A classic Polish bridal used to be a three or perhaps four time occasion. Generally, it was held outside in backyards https://wbl.worldbank.org/, woodland and barns. They were a celebration of life and the wealth of essence. Now, however, many couples choose to forgo the temple and just include a service in their house or backyard with close family and friends. They still enjoy the great food, song and liquor but it’s not quite what it once was.
On the evening of the bride, just before midnight ( or around it if a one- moment wedding), comes the common service known as “oczepiny”, the unveiling of the bride. At this point, the veil is removed and she dons her czepek – a cap worn by Polish priestesses to reflect their standing as married females. This is also when the longer locks are unbraided and cut short, as a symbol of her shift from boyhood to woman.
As the few leave the church, guests wash them with currencies and particles, to give them luck and prosperity. They finally change into their group garments. It is also classic to chuck tiny, circular coins into the woman’s locks– whoever collects the most will remain in charge of their finances.
